Tuesday, July 5

On the road by 8:30 this morning, and on our way to Sault Ste. Marie where we would cross another scary bridge back into the USA.  It was about 200 miles to "the Soo",  with the terrain relatively hilly with continuing views of beautiful bays that ultimately lead to Lake Huron. Joni took the wheel as we crossed the bridge, I closed my eyes.  Going through customs was very smooth, and we quickly found our Trip Advisor top rated lunch spot, "Karl's Cuisine".  which overlooked the Soo Locks and was just below the scary bridge.   (You can see the scar bridge in the background of these two pix.)

Our lunch was delicious, and we then headed for our campground rendezvous with my sister, Wendy, and her husband Carl.  They drove up from their home in West Bloomfield this morning, and they were already at the campground when we arrived.  We visited with Wendy and Carl as we set up camp; we had not seen them for almost two years, so it was great to be together.

Our campground is run by the state, it's very clean and well maintained.  Our site has electricity, and the showers and toilets are very close.  For dinner we went out to a brew pub that is actually within the state park, but operated by a private concessionaire.  I had my first taste of Upper Pennisula whitefish, and Joni had a salad with chicken.

It stays light here until 10 PM; we are still in the eastern time zone, and very far north.  I love it.
