We arrived at Joni's Aunt Roey's home in Massena yesterday afternoon around 2:30 pm. The 250 mile drive across northern New York was an easy one; very little traffic. Our only stop was in Burlington for breakfast at the Penny Cluse. People watching in Burlington is always fun; lot of kids in their teens and twenties, trying to find themselves. Plenty of old hippies too. We had a great dinner at Janice and Ron Meshurel's home, old friends who are neighbors of Roey's.
Today we drove down to Alexandria Bay in the Thousand Islands. It's a beautiful drive, heading about 70 miles southwest along the St. Lawrence River. Arriving at Alex Bay around 11:30 AM, we met up with Joni's aunt and uncle, Rita & Monty, and her cousin Roberta, and her husband Mike.
Lunch was at the Alex Bay Fire Department who put on a delicious chicken barbecue for 600.
After lunch we hung out along side Rita & Monty's boat which is docked at the Bonnie Castle harbor. Delightful afternoon, lots of laughs and old family stories.
